Bone Black is an experimental documentary that examines how the history of birth workers in the South has contributed to the current Black infant and maternal mortality crisis. This film was part of the P&G’s filmmaker program called Queen Collective Season 4, 2022-2023. Bone Black: Midwives vs. the South won the 2023 Jury Award for Best Short Documentary at the Blackstar Film Festival and became Academy Award-qualifying for the Documentary Short Award category.
